Het is geweten dat de Amerikaanse door het parlement gefinancierde National Endownment for Democracy (NED) een van de speerpunten van de VS is om allerlei haar ongunstige regering omver te gooien of minstens te destabiliseren. Maar er zijn daar nog veel meer als ngo vermomde organisaties hoor. Het is big business waar duizenden mensen hun broodwinning halen. En voor een aantal is dat wat meer dan brood met beleg.
Ook de rol van Ramstein, de Amerikaanse basis in Duitsland is gekend. Maar dat is verre van de enige. Washington beschikt over een waar spinnenweb van adressen via welke de VS die activiteiten organiseert. Tijdens de oorlog tegen Irak in 2003 was bijvoorbeeld Antwerpen een der belangrijkste draaischijven. Dit terwijl de regering Guy Verhofstadt toen luidkeels die oorlog veroordeelde. Zo gaat dat.
Verder heb ik nog geen weet van buitenlandse steun voor die Catalaanse separatisten. We weten wel dat de Duitse AFD, Wilders’ PVV en de campagne voor de Brexit allen ‘private’ Amerikaanse steun hebben. Maar het zou mij dus sterk verbazen moest die er hier niet zijn. De durf van die Catalaanse regering valt mij te zeer op. Dat doe je normaal niet zonder rugdekking. Wie Europa wil destabiliseren staat hier op de eerste rij.
Wat mij ook bij de berichtgeving opvalt is dat voor zover ik las niemand spreekt over de serieuze gevolgen voor Frankrijk. Zo is er in de streek van Perpignan een sterke pro-Catalaanse stroming actief. Frankrijk zal dan ook ZEER op zijn hoede zijn.
En wat met Catalaanse aanspraken op delen van andere Spaanse regio’s. Je kent dat, dat soort nationalisten ziet het altijd groots. Vlaams nationalisten dromen soms al eens luidop over het annexeren van Frans-Vlaanderen. Zo bijvoorbeeld het Vlaams Belang tot zij vriendjes werden met de familie Le Pen. Ik hou mijn hart vast. Catalaanse waanzin noem ik dit.
